We are currently members of the Sunnigdale School alliance teaching school group. Staff and senior leaders meet to share good practice and training opportunities. Staff meet regularly to moderate work and secure good assessment outcomes. Staff access CPD Together. We also work with Sunningdale School, Harton Technology College and Sunderland University to provide a range of teacher training opportunities. These support succession planning in the school and beyond. Students from Harton Technology College attend our school as part of their A level enhancement activities. Teaching assistants and work experience student have completed their work placements in our setting.
Our higher level teaching assistant is a qualified Makaton tutor who offers free training to parents in our school and delivers training to other agencies on negotiated terms. (Contact Jackie Webb)
We have qualified staff that deliver swimming and hydro sessions to our own pupils but can negotiate pool hire and support to community groups or individuals. (Contact Vikki Scott)
At the request of other schools or settings, our staff offer advice that supports individual student with specific needs or training for staff. (Contact Head Teacher P Selby)
Our assistant head teacher for profound and complex learning difficulties supports schools in developing practice for this group of students on request. (Contact Mary Crane)
Short breaks service offer holiday clubs on our premises to support all pupils from the area experiencing special educational needs who wish to attend. Our own mid-week and Saturday clubs are open to pupils from other schools in the area.
We have an affiliation the voluntary group Ability Football to offer after school activities for adults and young people with complex physical and educational needs.
