Leavers Prom

13th July 2018Miss S Padden

Post 16 pupils celebrated their achievement in style this week for their prom.

They were given the red carpet treatment at The Little Haven Hotel and partied the afternoon away.

Staff and pupils spent the morning being pampered by having their hair and make up done before leaving school at lunchtime. Staff and pupils looked fabulous.

The Little Haven provided a hot buffet lunch and mocktail’s before they were awarded medals and certificates for their achievements this year.

It was an especially important day for our leavers this year. They had the opportunity to stand up and read out a speech to their friends and staff.

A wonderful afternoon was had by all

A huge thank you to The Little Haven Hotel for once again providing an excellent venue and giving our pupils a day to remember.

Sports Day Fun

13th July 2018Miss S Padden

The whole school joined together for our sports day and worked very hard around different activities which included, athletics, golf, races, judo and obstacle courses. We had the huge inflatable slide on the field which was enjoyed by everyone. Bikes were available to ride and the chance to cool off with water guns where pupils had the chance to soak pictures of the staff!!

Pupils and staff thoroughly enjoyed the morning.

Lots of fun had by all.

Another fantastic turn out for our School Fair this morning. A bonus the sun was shining too!

Pupil and staff have worked hard making fabulous items to sell from sweet kebabs to planters for the garden.

Lot’s of great games going on too which involved some staff getting very wet!

We even had a visitor called Marley who gave everyone a ride in the sunshine.

A huge queue for our raffle and tombola stall as usual with some excellent prizes up for grabs!

The Key Awards

21st June 2018Miss S Padden

Last night we were invited to The Key award ceremony at Newcastle Civic Centre. 6 pupils, 3 staff and one parent enjoyed a night of celebrating young peoples achievements from across the North East. We had a lovely meal, danced to music and enjoyed social time together.

Groups of pupils from Keelman’s Way School were nominated for a range of categories, including ‘Key Inspirational Group of 2018’ and ‘Key Community Champions of 2018’. We are so proud of them for all the hard work they have put in this year to help the school and local community.

Toni Waugh, our Blue 2 teacher, won ‘Key Facilitator of 2018’, which is an amazing achievement, as she was selected out of all the Key Facilitators across the North East.

We also had other staff nominated for ‘Key Facilitator of 2018’ and ‘Key Volunteers of 2018’.

Well done everyone

Blue Class 2 Parents Afternoon

18th June 2018Miss S Padden

Blue 2 had a lovely morning on Thursday preparing for their parents coming into school that afternoon. Transport is this half terms topic so it was only right that we used this when making our healthy snacks and food. We made two different types of fruit rockets: Strawberry, grape and blueberry and Strawberry, banana and mango. Parents enjoyed their healthy treats and also took part in some healthy activities with children.

Gurdwara Visit

15th June 2018Miss S Padden

Some pupils from across the school visited the Gurdwara in South Shields, to explore the Sikhism religion. To show respect we removed our shoes and washed our hands before entering the Gurdwara.

We met Kirpan, who showed us different rooms and discussed with us the Sikh uniform, the 5K’s and how they believe 1 God. We also listened whilst he read from the Guru Granth Sahib and showed us the room that this was kept in. We all sat on the floor to show no one is better or worse than anyone else and then enjoyed a snack together.
