Yesterday the whole school spent most of the day working outside. We were very lucky as the sun was shining too!
There were a variety of activities available to participate in such as pond dipping, planting seeds, obstacles, bikes, parachute games and reading in the sensory garden.
Primary pupils enjoyed a water fight on the afternoon.
What a fantastic 3 days we had in Thurston with some of our Secondary and Post 16 students. We were very well looked by the amazing staff at Thurston and we took part in activities such as sailing canoeing, jetty jumping, gauge walking, orienteering and climbing.
Our students went above and beyond trying out new activities and overcoming many challenges.
A huge thank you to our staff who gave up their time to give our students the best experience possible.

We are ‘Story of the month’ on Durham RFU website. It’s a lovely article about how well our pupils have done in the Rugby sessions and also enabled Rob to win our pupils some tickets to the European Final at St. James Park!! – WOW!!

A group of our staff attended the South Tyneside Staff Awards on Friday night at Temple Park. We were shortlisted for an award in the category called Green and Sustainable South Tyneside… and we won!!!
At Keelman’s Way we consistently raise awareness of the world around our pupils. The vocational programmes offered in school include working in the nearby nursery Forest School and the development of our school garden.
We use our school-grown products in cookery as well as learning about recycling and making good use of found materials.
This is a fantastic achievement. Well done.
Another fantastic turn out this morning for our Easter Fair
Well done to our pupils for making fabulous gifts and treats to sell.
Our raffle this year has some fabulous hampers as prizes.
Our café was fit to burst offering an assortment of home made cakes and scones fresh from the oven.
We raised an amazing £1500 so far!!

A HUGE well done to our pupils for taking part in the Wanderers Tournament at Beacon for Light in Sunderland.
As part of science week each class designed their own moving car out of a shoe box.
Today we tested our cars our to see how far they travelled down a ramp and across the sports hall.
The results were displayed in true Top Gear style!

A group of our Post 16 girls are currently carrying out a work experience placement at the Little Haven Hotel in South Shields.
The girls have learnt some valuable life skills such as cleaning, making beds, hoovering and setting tables.
Every week the girls put in 100% effort.

Today Blue 2 students have had a great treat because of the hard work of 3
students in class. Martin, Luke and Ramizul developed 12 life skills while planning
an organising several events for their friends. Today their project was to go bowling
and have lunch out together thanks to a charity called The Key. Science and maths
skills were also developed while out in our community: comparing physical
processes in our community, identifying sounds, developing our time skills in a functional way.

Dear Parents/Carers
Blue 1’s topic this half term is ‘Community’. We have spent time discussing ways in which we can help our local community and local charities. We would like to raise some awareness and some money for ‘Hebburn Helps’. This is a Community Food Bank and Crisis Response Team are a Voluntary Community Organisation that was set up to help local families who are finding it hard and are struggling.
We have researched online, and spoken to Hebburn Helps, and they are currently running the following appeals,
It would be great if you could donate anything from the list above, even just one item! Blue 1 will make sure these are collected and then taken to Hebburn Helps. If they could be in school by Friday 22nd March 2019 we would be grateful, as we intend to take them to Hebburn Helps the following week.
Also, as a class we are hoping to raise some money in school via the café and the school fayres, as well as ask staff for donations and support.
